Pink carpet?

Yesterday, the woman who is buying our house came over with a carpet installation guy for an estimate. Chris and I were floored (no pun intended...okay, it was totally intended). The thought of covering our beloved hardwood floors is horrifying enough, but the carpet samples they brought were pink and red. Seriously, pink and red carpet samples. Our poor, poor house. We've loved it for two years, taking it from a 70s revival style to a "modern beach" esthetic. I know people have different tastes - but no one, I repeat no one with taste would EVER install pink carpet into a home. Our adorable first home is going to get Ugly. I guess I just have to accept that fact and move on.

Speaking of moving - tomorrow the movers come and Thursday we're outta here. I'll be taking a week hiatus from blogging. But please send us your good movin' vibes. My next post will be from The South, y'all. Have a great week!

Come in..no no...Go Away!

I have to admit, I saw this doormat on another blog called Oh Joy. It's also where I first saw the fashionable Fifi (see my past post). So what does that make me? I'm a blog thief, I admit it. I swipe from other sites and post my own commentary. But let's look beyond that for a moment and check out this doormat. From one direction it says Come In, but when you view it from the other direction it says Go Away. So tricky, me likey. I really need it for my new house down south y'all! All I'm going to say is this would make a great housewarming present.

If I were a bunny, I'd wear Marc Jacobs

But Fifi is the bunny and she has all the cute outfits. Her glasses are awes.

Good Day Sunshine

I'm determined to put solar panels on the next home that Chris and I purchase. Don't worry, I'm not going to get all Green and Preachy about it, but check out this adorable Berkeley cottage and see if you're not inspired. It's small - that's for sure, but sometimes less is more. That's not to say that this place was cheap to build, it probably cost a minor fortune. But $6 gas and electric bills are a dream come true!

Blackle?

Have you heard of the new google site called Blackle? No, it's not a racist search engine - at least I don't think it is. Supposedly google created this site as an alternative to their regular search engine, with the theory that a black screen with white text would save energy. Hmm... if google was really serious about saving energy by use of a black background, why didn't they just change their regular website to have a black screen? And why the racist name? If black-screened google is called Blackle, then white-screened google should be renamed Whitle. For more on energy-saving racist search engines go to www.blackle.com.

Pack it up!

Packing up the upstairs... write more later! Wish I was outside...

Shout Out!

Just a quick Emmy's nomination shout out to some of my favorite TV shows Grey's Anatomy, The Sopranos, The Office and 30 Rock! They're all winners to me. An Emmy shocker: Justin Timberlake (that's your boy JD) got a nod for the Sat Night Live "D--- in a Box" digital short. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out. Hilarious!

Hug Trees in Style

Ever struggle with the "paper or plastic" question? Here's your answer - the oh so cute Envirosax. A few months ago I ordered the Delightfully Pretty series, the only ones available at the time on www.Delight.com. They are delightful and pretty, but I adore these black and white designs. The cute bags are the perfect size for grocery shopping or going to the farmers market, really for anything. They're lightweight, waterproof and so handy, you can fold one up to stick in your purse or keep them in the car. One bag hold the equivelent of 2 grocery bags. No foolin! I know you love trees and if you're like me you love shoppin, so get on your with bad selves and buy some (only $33 for 5) before the grocery bag police come getcha!

Gnome is Where the Heart is

I'm a lucky girl, not only is my husband an amazing artist, but his latest piece is a gnome pole. You might not realize it, but I heart gnomes.
If you'd like to see it in person, drop by Mount Royal Ave at Howard St in Charm City (that's Baltimore Hon!). It'll be there for a year, but if you visit this weekend you can catch Artscape.

I think I can make this

This cat scratchin' post is awes, but it's too spendy for my lowbrow furballs. With a little help, I think I can make it on the cheap. Where's martha stewart when I need her?

Movers and Shakers

I can't believe I'm going to be living in Savannah, GA in less than 3 weeks. But I do have a cute house to live in once I'm there.

It took us nearly 9 hours last Sat to find this arts and crafts bungalow to rent, but I think Chris and I will be very happy here. Especially since the rent is about half of our current mortage payment. Now if I can just convince my DC/Baltimore friends to move down with us, I'd be set!
